"Cause you blend Little Miss Hula," my mother said when I cried about failing miserably to fit in in Hawaii during those first few months. She had a point - my particular kind of neurotic New Yorkers do well on the subway and at the Barney's sale but don't exactly know how to keep their mouths shut or drive with Aloha. But check it out after two years I learned. I even managed to accomplish my goal and write a first draft of my first novel. I left paradise only days ago and now I'm trying to go with the flow as I try to figure out my new NY life, what to do with this first draft and of course getting a job.

Why the love for Google? It started after spending too many hours trapped in a windowless cubicle with nothing to do but watch the clock. After reaching the end of the internet, I briefly thought of doing work but instead through myself into self -assigned research projects - who invented toothpicks? How many Jews are there in the world? How could I survive a fall into the subway tracks? What happens if I get a yeast infection while traveling abroad? What are the international versions of Monistat? Some of these adventures in Googling turned into articles and my first clips. My obsession over vaginal fungus paid for my ticket to Hawaii after writing about it in Glamour. After all these years I think in search terms. You need it, I'll find it. I should be the poster girl for Google - I knitted the bikini and everything (see my pics).
